new sad art up. some should be available in the shop soon. I'm hoping to possibly get some of them in or create new pieces for an art show in the PHX Center for the Arts, if it's not too late.
the shop button is now open for business. i saw a few other people using society6, so i thought it would be a great resource. you don't get to keep as much of a profit, but at least the shipping and tedious stuff is taken care of. personal commissions are always welcome as well, with an added thank you if you choose to order directly through me. i should probably blog more, looking back at 2012, so I'll make that a resolution. though you can follow me on tumblr: urlnotfound, if you haven't already.
some ups and downs, still processing some things; hopefully I'll get some more emotions out there at some point. but here's to the new year. cheers.
Wrapped up another student short a couple weeks ago for an ethics class. Despite it's amateur moments, I find it amusing, I hope others will too. School has been pretty busy and has eaten up a good chunk of free time but most of the knowledge is fun. Looking to do more art and photos soon, been awhile. I'm not sure who's checking the site, weird surges every now and again, but if you have any comments or concerns, feel free to send me an email, I'd love to chat. For my health, I should probably update this more often, apologies.
some new art up from a show I contributed to awhile ago. these were heavily influenced by Mike Mills, an artist that I continue to draw an enormous amount of inspiration from. i say heavily influenced because, upon completion, i realized it bared a great resemblance to the cover of 'thumbsucker' in it's tone and feeling. somewhat of a happy subconscious decision since I haven't recently watched that film at the time, though you should right now if you haven't seen it. after the realization, i saw it as a fun opportunity to blend some originals with some familiar figures. yes, that is supposed to be Sophie (Miranda July) in the red and Oliver ('Beginners') in the yellow. a sort of tribute to a master of art that I have admired for many years.
an update because I never do. almost been a month since the last one. a couple new projects on the way, should update with some new art and photos soon. speaking of photos, dumped a ton on facebook. are we fbbff yet? me.
will be less vague when less sleepy.
If you've been checking this for whatever reason, here's a small payoff in that you can now watch the new video I made for The Cigs before anywhere else! #2! Tornado!
The video was great to shoot and edit and I think really shows how fun this band is. Because what is more fun than filming in a car full of 5 people on a hot Arizona day? (nothing)
I would have posted it sooner but the birthday got in the way. Also, in more life news, I finally sent my application in for an internship! It's pretty much the only place I want to apply to
right now, but I don't even want to talk about it, fearing I'll jinx myself. So just wish me luck.
Hit 'Video' and Enjoy!
Bought a new camera Sunday, had a meeting on Monday, shot on Tuesday, edited Wednesday, and had the final product ready for Thursday. Is that not speedy service or what?! Check out the new music video for 'The Cigs' either in the 'bands' section or also 'video.' It amazes me at what can get done when you're inspired and able to work with other creative people. Certainly the band was a treat and I can't thank them enough for letting me shoot my first music video for them. It's a risk, to go with someone who hasn't made one, but I think I've seen enough to know what I like and what works for the most part; plus the fact that they made inspiration so easy was a real bonus. Alexis, Andrew, and Brant are good people. I can see The Cigs easily becoming something big and great and I do wish them many great accomplishments in life. We also shot another video in the morning yesterday for another one of their songs that I've been excited about.
A week and a half ago, I set up a goal for myself to finally get around to shooting something new (I can't believe it's been a year) for my portfolio, for an internship consideration by the end of May. I have 6 days to spare! I'm very happy with how things turned out and I really feel like I lucked out with The Cigs. Doing art and taking photos has been nice, but when I got back into the mindset of filming and getting back into the editing chair, the heavens ripped open and I was bestowed with a love that I've taken for granted for awhile now. Definitely getting around to the camera and new editing software helped a great deal. Though there goes the rest of my savings. Need to find some pay gigs!
After all of that, I'm pretty tired but still have a ways to go. I have to apply soon and prepare some voodoo spells to ensure my acceptance.
Also, I turn 23 today.
Just met up with The Cigs, a cool local band with some groovy tunes. Check them out. It's exciting to view things from the ground level, they're going to blow up and become mighty popular.
Also, I'm very excited to shoot some music videos with the band this week! Looking forward to making something great.
